Sad sad guest room. Why would anyone want to come visit here?
It needed some love.
And some yellow.
Ah. So much better.
It's amazing what a little color can do.
So bright and happy.
It just says, "come in and leave your worries at the door".
Shane first painted the ceiling white, along with all the trim.
It took a really long time to find the right color for the walls.
Every sample ended up being too green or too blue.
But once I found it, I knew it was perfect.
(It's Valspar Silver Spruce.)
This huge armoire is maybe my favorite piece of furniture in the house.
It houses lots of baby blankets and down comforters for our guest to choose from.
Most of our guests do have babies, so I moved in a rocking chair.
Just for fun, I framed a little vintage handkerchief for the wall.
(I collect them.)
Of course, the quilt is the star of the room. My sister Emily made it for me.
AMAZING. I know.
The multi color pillow is from Pillow Mio and the yellow ones are from World Market.
The throw was made for Lydia as a shower gift.
The side table is a refurnished vintage sewing table.
I need to cut about three inches off the legs to get it the right height.
But it feels sad to do it, so I keep putting it off.
I've somehow kept this entire dresser empty for guests.
It's been an effort. My jewelry making supplies would fit there so nicely.
Still not sure about these flowers. I'm thinking maybe hydrangeas would be better.
Framed this Daydream list from the Wheatfield.
I asked my sister to send me some scraps she had left over from the quilt.
I thought they would be nice framed on the wall.
I went to Hobby Lobby and had some speciality matting done.
Use the 40% coupon and it's super cheap.
Used some of that "too blue" sample paint to make some boring lamps just right.
Here's a peek into the bathroom. It's nice and yellow.
But it's not done yet, so you can't see it.
I love these colors together.
Okay, I still need to get the door painted. Shane wants to wait until we can do them all at the same time, so it might be a while.
But other than that, I love it.
All ready for guests.
(Boise is lovely in the Summer. Come visit!)

Oh my word. I loooove this! The colors, the cheerfulness, it's perfect! I would totally come stay in your guest room. ;)
Boise is wonderful all the time! I was there last June and couldn't get over how nice it was in the early morning and evenings... We went and 'floated the river' too, it was so relaxing and we met the best people!

Wow! That's a great makeover! I love the colors that you used and the framed hankie and fabric swatches are a really nice touch! I'll have to remember that. I'm also impressed that you managed to keep the dresser empty. You're much stronger than me! I can't resist an empty drawer :)
Natalie, your guest bedroom looks amazing and I love the Silver Spruce color! It's the perfect shade of blue. Beautiful job!
I absolutly love everything about this room! Where is the furniture from? It all looks like it's a suit!
