5 Minute, 5 Dollar Scarf

A couple weeks ago I showed a group of women from my church how to make several handmade Christmas gifts. This scarf was by far the favorite. I am still getting calls asking specifics about how it was done. I thought maybe there would be others who would like to make one as well. I am making this one for my grandma. (Don't tell.)

Start with a skein of yarn. Choose the thickest available. Thin yarn will not work for this project.

Place two chairs about 10 - 14 feet apart. Depending on how long you want the scarf. If your chairs don't have opening on the top, you can always use the legs.

Tie the start of the yarn to the chair.

Start looping the yarn around the two chair tops.

Continue with all the yarn.

Hold on to the yarn and cut it away from one side.

Tie in a knot, allowing for loose yarn to hang. Cut to even out.

Tie a second knot. You can do it right in the middle, but I like the asymmetrical look of a knot a little off center.

All Done! How easy was that?

To tie:

Here's one with an unspun wool and some cool embellishment yarn.

And a long one I made for me. You can never have too many scarfs :) Let me know how yours turns out.

Love them! I saw something similar in a magazine last year, but they braided the pieces...sort of. I can't ever find the unspun wool, and when I do, it's VERY expensive.
