Four Year Old Musings

Lydia was mad at me because I was putting makeup on instead of coloring with her. I explained that Daddy was coming home for lunch and I wanted to look nice for him. She looked at me for a moment and then asked:

"Are you going to get naked?"

"What?!"

"Are you going to get naked?"

"Why would I get naked?"

"So you can show Daddy your toot. He will think it's funny."

Apparently a four year old is too young for the "You can be anything you want to be" talk. After my spiel, Lydia said:


"Well, then I want to grow up to be a baby mouse."

While taking a bath, Lydia looks up seriously and asks, 


"Mommy? Can I trade the cow for a handful of beans?"

Lydia and I were just playing opposites. I say something and she tells me the opposite. Hot...cold. Messy....clean. Then she yells out "Cookie!" "Hum. I don't know Lydia. What's the opposite of cookie?" She joyfully yells "Diarrhea!"
