Two Years

It's been two years since I moved from Tennessee. Boise feels like home now.
But I will always miss the South. Especially the Autumn. And the lovely views from our little home.

Tonight I miss thunderstorms and torrential downpours.
Lightning bugs and honeysuckle.
Girl's night out on warm restaurant patios.
Savory cornbread and fresh peaches.
Diversity on the faces of our neighbors.
Accents so strong I'd have to translate for my out-of-state guests.
Forests so thick, you'd get lost within a few steps.
Katydids and huge white clouds.
My pretty white home where my babies were babies.

I am so grateful for the 7 years I was a Southern girl.
I think, no matter where I call home, a part of me will always be one.

I don't know you personally of course, but as I was driving around town and listening to the radio the other day, I thought of you. Have you heard Brad Paisley's new song? While I did not grow up in Tennessee, I *did* grow up in the south, and I now live in Mesa, Arizona. I'm DEFINITELY out of my "Southern Comfort Zone"!!

Wish I'd known you when you were in TN! So much closer to AL than you are now! But I love following all of your adventures!

The South is missing you too. P.S. Awesome pergola, Shane.

Mandy - I've never been a country music fan, but listening to that song made me cry. Thank you for sending it my way! Good luck in Mesa. Enjoy the dry heat :)
