The plan: For one month (at least) Jan 10th - Feb 13th - Engage in a totally detox of my life. Focus on the bad habits I have made and try to develop new habits.
1. Eating.
- NO sugar of any kind except found in fresh fruit.
- NO processed food of any kind. None.
- NO white flour of any kind.
- NO take-out. - Shane is excluded from this one since he has to pick up his lunch most days.
2. Sleeping
I've been dealing with some serious insomnia for a few months. It usually takes me at least an hour to fall asleep and sometimes I'm awake for hours in the middle of the night. Sooo....
- In bed every night by 9. (With a little Tylenol PM for help). Lights off by 9:30. Try, Try Try to turn my brain off.
- NO Diet Coke. - Yea, I said it. This is the real test of my will power. I try not to drink coke after lunch, but I need to make sure I don't have anything interfering with my sleep.
- Collin gets up by 6AM. So I need to get up by 5:30 if I want to get a shower in and feel like anything but death for the day.
3. TV
Shane and I have started watching a lot of TV since we moved. We put the kids to bed, clean up, get in our pjs and watch TV. I usually blog surf at the same time. We are zoning away our nights. Soooo...
- NO TV, except on the weekends. Exceptions include - the news, watching a little Max and Ruby with my babies and occasional Hulu viewing during folding the laundry. Because I hate folding the laundry. And I love Modern Family.
4. Play
I cannot figure out how to keep the house clean. I swear I am working constantly and I just can't keep up. The problem is, I keep trying. And I'm always thinking of what needs to be done. All the time. Before I had kids I couldn't imagine the destruction that would ensue. I need to disconnect from the mess and when I play with the kids really play. I want to be fun and have fun with them. I want to learn how to ignore this job that never, ever, gets done.
****
So there you have it. I'll check in periodical to let you know how it's going.
Heaven help me with the Diet Coke withdrawal.
Side note - I wish I could say that I have high goals for working out this month.
But it would seem I have a stress fracture in my ankle.
I pushed a run a little too hard a while back and looks
like that pain that just won't go away is
something more than a bruise. Annoying!

You can do it! I'm detoxing right now. I started with one day of fruits and veggies only and rolled into juicing. I've been going for one week strong and I'm continuing with the juicing for another week and then back into just fruits and veggies. No take out for me - but hubs does lunch like everyday with work, so he's exempt :) I really need to make a bedtime goal and stick with it. Here's to a better, happier, healthier year!
That is wonderful Natalie! Coincidentally, I have started eating fresh with no refined or processed foods as well. I have devised some quick, filling recipes (that are also low fat) if you are interested. As for cleaning, it really is a job that is on-going no matter how much you try to keep on top of it. The only time I managed to keep on top was when I lived on my own. My grandmother (mother of many children)told me that she focused on one room a day, and once a month a big clean. Obviously there are the daily jobs, such as kitchen and bathrooms, but every day add one room, and you will find you are more on top of it. It works!
Sometimes I think we are twins! I love me some Tylenol PM. As for the detox, I just did a week on this plan:

I love that he is not selling anything, it's not extreme, and it's just plain healthy food. I did 5 days of no caffeine/alcohol/animal products/ sugar/ processed foods, and then 3 days of the fruit/veggie only part of the cleanse.
I feel GREAT for the first time in months and lost a few pounds, too. There are so many crazy cleanses out there, this one seemed the healthiest and most balanced. Your plan is great, too, I just thought I'd share the link if you wanted some additional ideas.
Good luck; you'll do great!
Good for you mama! I was a diet coke addict and quit. I feel great. Still have my morning coffee though but after that it is no caffeine for the rest of the day. Best of luck Natalie!
what's up with that anon comment...strange one. good luck. you can do it. hate it for your foot. i've totally gotten on an exercise kick lately (not even checking to see if i lost a pound cause i just feel so much better). hope it heals quickly. of course, who knows if collin would cooperate so you could work out...it did take kutter 3 years to comply!
C'mon Natalie!!!!! GO GIRL!
Great goals, I'll bee rooting for ya for the next month! YOU CAN DO IT!
(I HEAR you on the cleaning, it's true, it really IS a never ending job.. so simply put, so insightful).

Have you tried melatonin to help you sleep? I have a hard time getting to sleep and some nights I take 1 melatonin. Those nights, I fall asleep much quicker and stay asleep easier.
I wish you the best of luck with your detox!
I have been wanting to do a detox of my own for quite some time and your detox gives me an idea of where to start. Thank you for the motivation!!!
I love number 4 ... I feel the same way. I am a working mom and I feel like all I do is come home and clean constantly. Not so much actual cleaning, but constantly picking up stuff all over the house. I keep getting rid of stuff in hopes that it gets easier to manage, but I still have a lot more to go because it's not getting any easier! I'm going to try to focus on playing with my daughter rather than always picking up when I'm with her.
I hear you about the cleaning and the " diet cokes " I love my Dr Pepper! some days all I do is clean corners. grrr. I have a word of caution about the Tylenol pm, do NOT take it unless you KNOW are gonna get 8 or more hours of sleep. my friends and I have noticed that it makes a big difference what time we take the med,and how we feel the next day. so HANG IN THERE and know that you are NOT alone!!!!
DANG! Go Natalie!!! I definitely feel the need for a detox (in many areas), but think I'd be better off waiting until after I've had this baby and adjusted a bit. ( :
You can do it!!!! Can't wait to hear how it goes!
I gave up Diet Coke a year ago, you can do it... I had horrible headaches for about a week and became nauseous for a couple days and was tired (more than normal) for about a month. But now I am so happy that I did it! you can too!!!! i look forward to reading you progress!
