Not next week. No, we are moving out today. Flying out in an hour. Things are going even faster than expected. I haven't had time to absorb this. It just isn't real yet. I am leaving my home for the last time. Except for what I can fit into two suitcases, everything I own is on a moving truck.
I haven't broken down yet, but I know just when it will happen. When I am flying away from Chattanooga and I look down and see the trees. When I see, stretching out below me, this place that has seen the birth of my babies and the majority of my marriage. The place that helped me fall in love with lightening storms and fireflies, chicken and dumplings and étouffée. The place that has shown me forests full of changing leaves and summer nights listening to a bluegrass band. The place that has given me some of the greatest friendships I have known.
No, I was wrong. My breakdown won't start on the plane. It's already starting.
Good bye to the South for now. Thank you for the past seven years. They have been wonderful. I will miss you desperately.

You can do this and do it well! We in the West welcome you with open arms! :)
Hugs, just think you are getting back close to the beautiful northwest!
This is all happening so fast! When we left Boston for Michigan I cried and cried. I still miss it. I hope you have a great time in Spokane and get settled in Boise soon.
Natalie this is crazy and leaving anywhere to go to Boise would be a huge adjustment. I heard about the "pink" analogy...
Chay has 4 siblings that live in Meridian- so Utah. Sorry but true.
But has a different feeling in a way- and downtown is pretty along the river-
Knowing you, you will love it eventually. Good luck. Emily and I want to come visit in October. At least Boise has a World Market.
I'm excited for you and this new adventure your life. I've never lived in Boise, but I hear great things! At least its not Idaho Falls, Idaho:)
I feel homesick for you. Just gotta put it out there, so scray and exciting all in one. go broncos.
Wow...that was a quick decision and move. We have never met, even although we both live/lived in Ooltewah TN,and we probably now never will. I will however continue to enjoy your little blog. I wish you and your family the best of everything in Boise. It sure sounds like a lovely place to raise your beautiful children and it's closer to your family.Maybe one day we'll move to back to my homeland of Scotland. God Bless ya'll as they say in the South.
as odd as it is, i'm glad i was out of town while you were in the final stages so it didn't seem so final. this post got me though.
for now, i'll just think about your pink analogy someone else mentioned and laugh!!
Haha the comments are cracking me up about Boise. Don't let them scare you... it's fabulous here! :-) And you'll LOVE downtown. Wish I made it down there more - I live in Meridian and pretty much everything I need is here so I don't venture out to Boise as often as I'd like. I can send you some links with lists of family stuff to do around here!
And now I'm SUPER curious about this "pink analogy." You might just have to message me and explain! :-)
I know it's scary and sad to move from a place that you love... hopefully this will be a great new chapter for you and your family!
Boise is definitely different than the south. Let yourself grieve. Then maybe let yourself discover some new friends and memories in the west. :)
By the way - I never saw my comment appear on your last post - but I live here in Boise. Have for 11 years. We moved from Oregon. It's a great place to raise a family. Not perfect - but not awful. Give it time.
good luck, natalie!
Praying for your family for a safe move. What an adventure!
Oh, my goodness! I know how you feel. It is so hard to move from a place that you love so much. I hope you love Boise. I have never been there but I did love living in Idaho. Cold, but I loved it. Good luck with all of your new adventures. I hope you have much happiness in your new home. You will just have to make more good memories!! I will miss seeing you when I visit Tennessee!
