We're here! And moving sucks.

We finally arrived in Boise. (I may have lingered in Spokane for a bit longer than planned.) I am now staring at piles of moving boxes and mounds of "random" that must be addressed. I miss my friends and I really really really miss the Mexican restaurant that was just a few miles from my house. I just keep saying over and over, "I love Idaho. I love Idaho. I love Idaho."

While the desert part of things is going to take a bit to get used to, our new house is lovely. I can't wait to get her all gussied up. I'll show you some photos as I get things finished. By the way, anyone know where I can get great Mexican food around here?

"Hi. I'm trashed. Do our exorbitant moving costs include a day at the spa?"

Best of luck to you, my love. We recently moved from Pocatello, Idaho to Federal Way, WA. So I can empathize about all the moving...only in reverse! It is scary and frusterating for the first couple days, and then you will sink into it. With love from the Evergreen State. xoxoxoxo

The quick answer to the Mexican restaurant is YES, but I have a little disclaimer. You see, I have lived in Idaho practically my whole life. But after getting married, we moved to Vegas and I was super excited to try all the great Mexican restaurants that everyone raved about. (Because, really, I could eat Mexican food just about every day and not get tired of it.) So we arrive at the restaurant and they bring out the chips and salsa and I very excitedly shove some into my mouth.... only to almost immediately spit it back out into my napkin and then I looked over at my husband who had the same look of "what the heck is this??" on his face. We actually seemed to acquire a new taste for the Vegas Mexican food and eventually enjoyed it, but were happy to come back to the kind we were used to. So moral of the story... yes, great Mexican restaurants here - but it may be different than what you're used to! Idaho seems to have its own version of Mexican food! :-)
Our favorite is El Gallo Giro in Kuna - but there are a lot of great ones. What area of Boise are you in?

Natalie - I live near Kuna and yes, I second that El Gallo Giro is our favorite. It looks like a hole in the wall from the outside but the inside is ALWAYS busy.

Oh I so feel your pain. Moving is the worst thing ever. I remember hating to move when I was in college. But it's even worse now. Once you add a few kids to the mix it's a major job! Glad you love your new house! I'm positive it will be spectacularly beautiful once you're done with it!

Welcome to Idaho! I was going to tell you, something I always try to keep on hand is Vinta crackers
(peanut free), garlic and herb Laughing Cow Cheese, and turkey from the deli. It's a great snack we all love.

I think you have to come down to tucson for that! Seriously.

Casa Mexico (fairview)
or Chapalla (glenwood or chindin)
Fiesta Guagalahara (in Merdian)
