Cravings.

While shopping with my mom and sister this Christmas, I had a crazy pregnancy craving for Chinese take-out. My sister Emily, also pregnant at the time, was helping me find the very nearest Chinese restaurant. She understood that pregnancy cravings are not to be trifled with. My mom, on the other hand, rolled her eyes. "Natalie, I don't think there are really pregnancy cravings. I get cravings and I'm not pregnant."
Hum. Well first of all, I hope you're not pregnant mom, since you are turning 60 this year. Second, a person who says they don't believe how crazy pregnancy cravings are, has either never had one, or totally forgotten them. That Chinese food may have been the best thing I have ever tasted.
Today I was craving this dish (as seen on my sidebar) but I didn't have all the ingredients. Instead I tried a new Banana bread recipe and I hear by declare it to be the best one ever. As you can see in my photo, I used my bundt pan...it turns out much better. For once it actually came out in one piece! Add a bit of cinnamon and nutmeg for an extra yummy kick. I would write more, but I have to go eat some Sugar Snap peas. Like right now.
Any weird pregnancy cravings out there?

I loved the part about your mom and pregnancy (or not) at nearly 60 - made me laugh!

I had a pregnancy craving for hard boiled eggs once. I made (and ate) the entire carton. All twelve.

Afterward, I didn't want eggs for a very long time. Too much of a good thing...

Thanks for the banana bread recipe! Sounds delicious!

♥ I never had any cravings. I love hearing about everyone else's though! :)

I recall your mom craving Taco Bell (usually just before they closed at 11pm) and getting out of bed to pick it up. Actually, those are pretty nice memories.

Dad! Look at you making comments!

I do remember mom saying that years ago. Yum...Taco Bell sounds good.

Last pregnancy, I had a time when I would go through a drive-thru and order pumpking pie and onion rings. Then there was the cranberry phase. This time it's been baked goods, mostly blueberry muffins. I've got to try that banana bread!

I definitely had strong craving during my pregnancy with Kellen. The one which lastest the entire 9 months was cream cheese. Cream cheese with bagels, pretzels, veggies, and even by the spoon full. I know it sounds gross now. Hopefully, the fun menu on Tuesday night will satisfy some of your cravings. It will be fun.

Hmm...I made banana bread today too, though it wasn't a craving. I really felt like cabbage rolls though, so I made those. I've never made them before and the last time I remember eating them was in 6th grade...why I started wanting them today I don't know.

Your cake looks great! Some people thought that it was weird that I craved Club crackers dipped in cottage cheese and a side of peaches; or bananas dipped in peanutbutter and rolled in rasins or chocolate chips (both really good). Mostly I craved anything frozen or just really cold like popcicles, ice, fruit, ice water or iced milk. It was that and steak.

Madeline - I crave steak every single day! Usually I have a hamburger a week to help it out.
