Goals for March

I tend to make monthly goals over yearly ones. I find that yearly ones are too easily forgotten. So besides my Success List that I mention here, monthly goals help me feel like I am moving forward. My goals for March are as follows:

  • Stop watching the news. - While I believe it is important to support the leadership that our country chooses, I would be lying if I said that the steps that the current administration are taking aren't terrifying to me. At this point there is really nothing I can do besides write my congressmen and pray for the best. I don't want to tune out completely, but I need to live within my circle of influence for a month or so. I think that means watching just the 5 minute morning news highlights and resisting the depression fest that is the nightly news.

  • Keep my room clean. Usually I seem to focus on having a clean kitchen. It is the center of the house, so if that room is clean, the home seems more in order. I have been thinking lately that my bedroom may be a better investment of effort. If my room is clean, bed made, toys removed from the floor - it becomes an inviting place. A place that I want to retreat to. A place that invites me to read my scriptures, meditate or cuddle with Lydia. It is inviting to Shane and I for...alone time. These are things I need in my busy life. I will still clean my kitchen (of course) but after I make sure my personal space is attended to.

  • Let my hair air dry. - I have naturally wavy (bordering on curly) hair. Thus I promptly give it a blow out and straighten it with a flat iron every time I shower. How much time would I save if I came to terms with my natural hair? - Anyone know a great hair product I can put on my hair wet that will keep frizzes at bay?
    1. Also - a new bloggy development for March. On my righthand sidebar I have added a new element. I want to try one recipe a week that is based on a pantry item. I will provide a photo and a link so you can try it too!

I've stopped watching the news too. It's just so depressing....people being killed, companies laying off thousands of people (me being one of them!)....it's just too much sometimes.

Bumble & Bumble's Styling Creme is so great for wavy hair. It helps with frizz, but leaves your hair really soft. You'd love it.

If you have pretty-wavy hair, you should rock it. I, unfortunately, have ugly-wavy hair, and especially in the humidity that is Houston, letting my hair air dry and going all natural is not an option. Good luck with your March goals!

♥ I always wanted to be able to let my hair dry on it's own. I used to but had to moose it up or it would be a frizzy mess! :)

I have curly hair. It use to be frizzy all the time until I my hairdresser gave me the best leave in conditioner that defrizzed even the frizziest hair. It's called "it's a 10" BEST product I've ever used.

Oh, you and your perfect wavy hair! I would kill for your hair. Yes, I think deep down in side you would agree that you have the perfect "after sex hair" all day long. What I wouldn't do for that...? Miss you and love your monthly goals. I do the same! Miss you and thanks for checking my blog. Sorry it takes you SO long. Yes, you probably should get a new computer, ;)

I've been thinking a lot about the destructiveness of News AFTER it has taken place; the time when we learn about it and its images fill our minds. In junction with that I have thought a lot about what the Prophets mean when they say "Stand in Holy Places" and I am realizing how critical it is to stand, or in other words, BE and THINK holy, good, uplifting things. Otherwise we forget that good things also exist - and thrive - in this world of media-covered chaos. Unfortunately the humanitarian efforts, the selfless acts, and the sincere words of comfort aren't great selling points for Broadcast companies. Honestly, I think it would be both mentally and spiritually healthier for us all to be a little less up-to-date on the current news and instead look around for opportunities to appreciate the kindness that exists in families, communities, and individual people.

ok, i have hair just like yours and i NEVER blow dry/straighten it or anything. frankly, i'm just too lazy. :) most important are choppy, choppy layers. if in doubt, do more. i just flip my head over after the shower and scrunch in a bit of paul mitchell wax works. best stuff ever.
