- I don't watch TV. I know that I made a goal to watch more TV, but it just never seems to happen. I catch "The Office" and "30 Rock" when they are new, but really, that isn't too often. Shane and I will have a movie from Netflix for weeks before we actually get around to watching it together. Every once in a great while I will watch a night of ABC.com while making jewelry - but that's like once a month. - So instead of downtime with TV, I have downtime with my blog (or a book). Usually it is no more that 20 minutes in the evening - but it is MY 20 minutes. - And by the way. "Paris BFF"?!? A show about people who actually WANT to be friends with Paris Hilton? If you watch this show I judge you. Unless you watch to it make fun of it, and then most likely we are friends.
- I have ONE child. And that child naps. I seriously have no idea how anyone gets anything done who has more than one child. (I do plan on having more children - so if you have the answer to that mystery, let me know!) I get EVERYTHING done during Lydia's nap. My cleaning, my bills paid, my emails checked. I also take 15 minutes of her nap to either read a few blogs or write my own. I usually drink a diet coke at the same time, but alas, I have given up the sweet nectar to try to help my insomnia. - So far, it is not helping.
- I have insomnia. Most of the posts over at "Natalie's Essays" were written at 3am when I can tell that sleep is just not happening.
- I like blogging. It makes me feel a little less isolated being a stay at home mom. When you like doing something, you find time to do it. Without having some kind of creative outlet, I would go a little tiny bit crazy.
So that is my explanation for this little past time I have developed. I hear Lydia waking up. Time to play outside on this beautiful fall day!

I have three children and get all my blogging done either while they are napping/rest time or when my husband gets home. That time between him walking in the door and dinner being ready is crucial for me. Have a great playdate with your daughter!
I liked this post a lot. Especially the last part about feeling a little less isolated - I can absolutely relate to that. I have three little girls, all under age four, and only one of the three (the newborn) naps. When it is something you enjoy, like you said, you find the time. :)
Since I'm commenting, I have to say thanks for the idea you gave me while I was reading back a few months in your archives. I have all sorts of old jewelry from my Grandma and I am going to make hair clips with it. Brilliant! I hate that it is all sitting in a box not being enjoyed.
Sorry about the insomnia. YUCK!
I feel the exact same way. Plus, my little one is very good at playing by herself on the floor. I also hope to have a few more, maybe our blogs will go downhill at that point?
Jen - your daughter plays by herself? Oh, you are a very lucky women. I pray my next baby can self-entertain.
Just so you know... I watch Paris Hiltons BFF. At first it was to make fun of it but not i actually enjoy it! TAKE THAT!
oh natalie, I knew I liked you for a reason. I too have insomnia...but I make it work in my favor. I've been picking up extra shifts at the hospital where I work (I usually only work one night a week) I've been working 4-5 nights a week 7p-3am I go to bed around 4am and am back up at 6:45 am to get the big boys off to school. Sometimes I take a nap when the baby does and sometimes I blog or sew. I dont know about you but I get the best ideas for patterns around 2 in the morning! When you love it and have fun you make it work!
Molly. We can't be sisters anymore. Too bad so sad.
Love this post!! I have a friend who recently did a post about the same thing and there was an all out WAR on her comment section. Someone (a man) decided to comment anonymously and say that all of us bloggers have WAY too much time on our hands and we are all in need of attention from our husbands because that is all blogs are...a way to show off our perfect lives and get the attention we are so desperately seeking!! Do you see why it started a WAR?? I had a few things to say about that as did MANY other bloggers!! He tried to defend himself in another anonymous comment but WE, the bloggers, won that FIGHT :)He didn't have much to say after we all put our two scents in! I think you put it perfect when you said "When you like doing something, you find time to do it" It has NOTHING to do with needing attention or having WAY too much time on our hands!
BTW...I changed your name to the Plummers on my blog :)
I blog either really early, late at night, if the girls are out with Adam, or on the rare occasion everyone is busy playing NICELY.
